Autumns Grove

Children play in wide daytime streets,
fragile and innocent, without a care -
Echos of laughter, sometimes tears,
parents pray for their safe return -

Cars chasing and chasing cars,
roaring engines disturb the early evening silence -
Gangs of youths hang out on street corners,
peaceful, causing little disturbance -

Drinking violations, party noise in the streets,
living above their means and stations -
Residing students rear their thoughtless heads,
and for them i have no patience -

Workers come home to their partners, their loved ones,
to settle in a warming home -
This is my street, my patch, my neighbourhood,
this is my autumns grove.
